I stayed for a night at Sadie’s by the Sea in Pago Pago. It was a nice place that I would call a three star hotel. It is not really a resort but it is pretty nice by American Samoan standards. It is also worth noting stating that I did not sleep there. My experience is limited to the restaurant and bar. More the restaurant really; I do not drink.
As I understand it, Sadie’s by the Sea filled in some ocean and reclaimed Goat Island just off the land. That is why they call the restaurant, Goat Island Cafe.
What I like about Sadie’s by the Sea
I would come there and work on the website from time to time. It was a great place to relax, enjoy the wind from the Pacific Ocean and watch the sun set. It is quite the amazing location on island to watch the beauty of the Pacific if you ask me. It is the center of the mouth of one of the world’s largest closed bays.
Another thing I personally like about the restaurant was that they have Sugar in the Raw. I love that stuff and it is very hard to find in alot of places.
What about prices?
It has been quite some time since i was there but if I remember right, the average meal was about $10. Here is their actual menu from their website.
It can get pretty busy in the evening with local Samoans and the yacht owners coming in to relax for the evening. I always tried to get out of there by 5 or 6 in the evening for this very reason. It is not bad but the place just get really noisy to say the least.
If you have been to Sadie’s By the Sea, let me know. What was your experience?
