How it started…

I do not process things the same as everyone. As a result, I am able to deal with stress a lot easier by getting a lot with my camera. I learned to destress through photography and along the way, I found out HDR Photography was fun to do!

I did a lot of photography as a kid in 4-H and was quite good. I even won some awards at the state level. However, life got in the way.

Many years later, I found myself in the Philippines needing an outlet for some stress. I reach for photography and it was the best decision I made. I was in one of the country with the best dynamic range in the world and there is just a lot of cool shots that just seem to happen in the Philippines.

Living in the Philippines for several years was a unique opportunity and it was also the opportunity of a lifetime. I was able to travel to every political district in the country (all 81 of them) including the dangerous Sulu Sea. I also was able to travel to Malaysia by ferry.

Places that I would recommend to check out as a photographer is Vigan, Sagada, Antique, Cuyo, and Coron. However some of the best shots are far away from the tourist traps.

On January 25, 2018; I returned to the United States for the first time in almost a decade. I found that Kansas City while much was the same, things has changed and I just did not feel connected to it anymore.

While I love Kansas City, it didn’t feel like home anymore for me. I did consider going to the Kansas City Art Institute but that didn’t work in the long term.
